I'm not talking about generative research at all. For which I agree, a deep dive is essential.

What you describe sounds like it would suit more a scale up or larger org. Most startups can't afford dropping 100 bucks per session unless it's a one-time thing.

My article refers to ongoing research with paying users. It cannot be reduced to evaluative research or usability testing because that's just the reaction of users to the existing product. At least in startups (it's what my article's target is) the product and the needs of users evolve. I advocate for an approach that blends customer success with research. Again, it's normal in startups to blur the lines between roles.

It's fine if you'd never respond to a message like the one I mentioned. Our users do, and have done so for years at different companies. We are not our users right?
